Our Learn to Play the Game program is for ages 4-12 & provide a fun beginner experience that starts a life-long passion for the sport of hockey.

Our focus is growing the game and making hockey a memorable experience for the kids while building the next generation of youth coaches and players, while keeping the sport affordable for our families.  Utilizing the USA Hockey ADM structure allows for skill appropriate play, which maximizes puck touches, ice time and FUN!

Players must be able to skate unassisted & stop in a controlled manner before registering for this program.  Over the course of the session, your children will continue learning to skate, stop, fall and get up, plus learn the basics of hockey and using a stick and puck while skating.

Fall & Winter 2025-2026 Junior Rebels & Ravens Learn to Play the Game program sponsored by BIGGBY Coffee!

This program is for players who already have their own equipment, or need to rent a few pieces, or those coming from Little Wings, Learn to Skate, or similar program who are ages 4-12, can skate independently and stop on their own.

This program continues to focus on basic skills, repetition and teamwork while the players learn the rules of the game and increase their comfort level in the sport.  This will better prepare them to move to our house teams in the Spring and next Fall.

This partnership ensures that families have access to all the gear they need, whether your child is a first-year skater or already a few seasons in.

The process is simple: just visit www.rinkratrentals.com, select the gear you need, choose your rental period, and have it delivered right to your door.  There is typically a 1-week lead time on all orders so plan accordingly for the upcoming hockey season.  If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out via email at contact@rinkratrentals.com.

Learn the Game COACHES

Our programs are 99% volunteer based and are only a success because of the outstanding efforts of our volunteer coaches. We are always looking for help on the ice for this program.

Our Director will ensure the overall program is organized at every session but the more coaches we have, the more that can be accomplished and the better support the players will receive.

At minimum, our Learn to Play assistant coaches must be registered with USA Hockey as a volunteer (or your adult league number will work), have completed Safesport Training and a background check.  Please send that to office@kvhockey.org
