2024-2025 MAHA District Information

Association Leaders,

Please forward this to all of your teams that are interested in playing in districts and seeking to bring home a State Championship.  The link to register for districts is open and I see that many teams have already submitted their entries.  Entry information can be found at the link below and the registration deadline is November 1st!!!

Here are a couple of tips to avoid problems down the road:

  • Have your coaches and manager double check their emails when filling out the entry (and use an email that they actually check).  I get a spreadsheet, then cut and paste whatever was entered.  Each year we have a team or two that claim that they never received any information.
  • Credentialling for district teams will be held on January 4, 2025. I know that there will be some on break, but we have to have this after the new year and have a tight schedule to get all the games and rounds in.  Plan now to have two people that can attend….they don’t need to be a coach or manager, but they are expected to have some competency and understanding of the team (please and thank you).
  • For credentialling, please review your scoresheets to make sure that all Game Misconduct and Match penalties were served.  If there are any errors on scoresheets where someone may have mistakenly marked a penalty as a Game Misconduct (GM), please let me know and I will forward these to the D4 Referee-in-Chief PRIOR to credentialling to have them resolved.
  • No, I can not share what other teams have or have not signed up.
  • Teams will be able to schedule round one games right after credentialling and setting up of divisions.
  • Round 2 to be held between January 31-February 2.  Associations have been requested to plan for an 8-team schedule, but some age groups may have a smaller tournament based on number of participating teams.
  • Hockey Day set for February 8th, 2025 hosted by Novi at Suburban.
  • Do not plan for other tournaments during these weekends.  Your entry into states is agreeing to play all games of all rounds.  There are tournaments every weekend,,,but only one state championship.
  • I am copying LCAHL and Adray contacts to avoid any scheduling issues.
  • All teams will be credentialled.  Those not entering into districts will be completed at a later date.
  • There are no plans at this time to host a non-state district tournament.  While it was fun,

As mentioned above, entries are due November 1st and I am told that the site will be locked down once the registration is closed.  If by chance the site does not lock down, we are only accepting registrations marked on or before the November 1st date.

Again, MAHA handles the registrations and I will get a list of teams after registration is closed.  Division splits will be determined based on the number of entries in that age group.

All teams entered will be reviewed for eligibility.  Teams that were formed without a verified draft, or teams from associations that did not submit single entry house certifications may be ineligible.  The last thing the D4 Council wants to do is to take the opportunity to play in states away from any player…but this falls back on association leadership as there have been numerous reminders of these rules and requirements.  Associations with multiple house teams can register place holders and notify us of your representative teams by December 20th.

Please let me know if there are any questions.  Thank you and I look forward to more state championships being won by our D4 teams.
